Why am I a Birth Doula? Because no one should ever feel alone.
I have had three births, each of them as unique as the child that was born on those days. Prior to having my first, I felt overwhelmed by choices and unsure of what I wanted out of a labor experience. From my friends' birth stories, and the emotions they evoked when they shared them, one thing became clear: I wanted to know what what happening and why during my birth. I wanted to know that my husband knew what was happening. I wanted someone in the room who could hold space for us to make decisions that were ours to make, and to bring back some of the knowledge that we've lost as a culture around comfort and support during birth.
Our doula did that for me. And I am here to do that for other women.
I am an former teacher, and that work plays into my role as a doula as I meet my clients where they are, working to understand each unique couple. Whatever your expectations or desires, my job as doula is to come on this journey along side you. It is a honor to serve - service being a key component of the original Greek meaning of the word "doula" - and an honor to be a part of your journey for these fleeting, but precious moments.
